Awards for the Independent Film Music Competition are given in the Categories of:

Best Use of Music in Short Film

Best Use of Music in Documentary (any length)

Best Use of Music in Full-Length Feature Film (narrative)

RUNTIME
Features: minimum 60 minutes

Best Film with Music as a Subject (any length accepted) - This category is for documentaries about music subjects.

Best Experimental/Performance Film (any length accepted)

When the winners in each category are chosen at the Competition, the composer and the winning film itself will all be considered the recipients of the award.

Dear Filmmakers: Please submit as early as possible. The earlier we receive your film for submission, the earlier you may find out it has been accepted and we can begin promoting your film's screenings.

May 2, 2012 - Final DVD/BluRay Exhibition Copies Deadline (if submissions are works-in-progress) \ Very Important: When you submit your submission screeners, please send them in Exhibition Quality without watermarks or "Screener Only" displays included. This way, if your film is accepted, then the Festival already has your Exhibition Copies, saving you the expense of sending another set of DVDs or BluRays and saving the Film Music Festival staff many hours spent obtaining the Exhibition Copies for screening. If you submit by online screener, please have your DVD/BluRay copies ready to send immediately if your film is accepted for Film Music Festival screening. As soon as you are notified that your film is accepted, be prepared to send the Exhibition Copies immediately. Thank you.

Films must be submitted on DVD format or BluRay (2 copies required, please) or by Secure Online Screener on Withoutabox. Please note that all films chosen for screening at the competition must be supplied to the Festival on DVD or BluRay format (2 copies required) by May 7, 2012.

The Park City Film Music Festival accepts online entries submitted via Withoutabox.com, which provides efficient, cost-saving, paperless submission to film festivals around the world. The Withoutabox internet-only submission platform features online applications via one master entry form, online fee payments, press kits, and the option to use Secure Online Screeners, an economical, eco-friendly, and secure alternative to traditional hard-copy DVD submissions. Filmmakers are able to complete one master entry form, then may take advantage of quick entry, extended deadlines, and powerful submission management tools. There is no extra cost to filmmakers to join Withoutabox, and by submitting, filmmakers join the Withoutabox global filmmaker community, enabling he or she to access the Withoutabox extensive resources, including contacts, calls for entries and alerts regarding international exhibition opportunities. All submissions will be considered and films screened in the Competition will be chosen by a panel of film music and film professionals. All films chosen for screening are considered finalists in the Competition.
